The 400k Dollar Question

Guess I'm not sure why a max performance/cost Mustang, 3 times the price of any other Mustang, needs to have a additional performance option, but I am guessing the $325000 was not enough?

Weissach
Asseto Fiorano
Etc

I’m sure there will be people that order without it, especially because the car is already a big reach for a lot of allocation holders, and the car will be extremely fast either way, but there’s always ways to spend more money and get the last couple percent.

Tick rate on Weissach for GT2 RS was almost 95%.

Oh I understand the perspective of the selling companies, just another few grand when you get to these amounts. This is exactly why I purchased a 500 mile GT, the cost variance at that amount was insignificant and I would be the only driver of car. I have already ruined that value. But it was allot of fun doing so. On a side note, I drove the GT about 500 miles last weekend. A good friend had his no CFTP car with us so we swapped for a bit. After sitting in his "truck", and driving it, I wondered how are they going to get a Mustang to be as good as the GT. What a difference. I had not ever gone from one to another on same road. Completely un comparable.

Base car with just a performance pack (estimated) and no special paint or any other add ons will be at $400,000.00 no doubt. Really would like to keep it under 400! But man these options are going to add up fast. Somewhere there will be a $500k GTD.

Base MSRP: $325,000.00
Performance Package (guessing) $45,000.00
Base Color: Included

Total: $370,000.00
Sales Tax (TX) 6.25% $23,125.00
Total w/tax: $393,125.00
Dealer Fees: + or - $3,000.00

Total: $396,125.00

Better up your dealer fees. They should be included in the price of the base car, and I believe will be $15000.

I know that the dealer gets $15k for just doing the paperwork on a GTD, but that actual dealer fees should be considerably less than 15k (outside of tax). Really is just license and doc fees (doc being around $85 in CA, and license fee being very state specific).

Unless a dealer is trying to mark up a car that is not even their allocation (meaning you can just walk to another store and they get nothing instead of a free 15k for some paperwork), it should be pretty light on the additional fees outside of tax and any other add ons.

For me, PPF is a must and that will be at least 5k, unless you want rim and tire protection and an extended warranty (if even offered as many of these kinds of cars do not have an option for extended), I'm thinking you manage to get out of the store without adding too much to the bottomline on dealer fees at least.

I am a GTD allocation holder, and I’m also a Ford Dealer and GTD Dealer. I am not trying to sell anyone on using our dealership, but I wanted to share what we are doing as far as fees. We have a $498 Doc Fee. Then you would add your local Sales Tax (Alabama’s is 3.75%) and Local Title Application fee (Alabama’s is $16.50). And if you are paying cash, for customers (in most states) we wouldn’t even charge you sales tax. In that situation, you would pay the sales tax when you register the car with your local DMV. That’s it. No other hidden fees.

Charging people $500 so that you can make $15 grand?? IMO Anyone that pays anything at all in dealer fees for these allocations needs their head examined.......

Your "dealer fee" is $15,000. Trying to squeeze another $500 out of the buyer is not a good look.

My delivery dealer added $800 to my NFGT because they could in that state. I told them it was my allocation not theirs, but it was too late to change dealers ( principal not so much the money). They are a multi dealer of high end exotics, they routinely mark them up and I was lucky to get GT at sticker! Needless to say I am not going back there for GTD! Long term strategy not working in my case!

There is no ordering kit for the GTD. Color and trim has tons of those domes though.

So no cool carbon fiber clad kit will be arriving in my mailbox like for the GT? That is a bit of a letdown, those kits were so damn cool. People have sold them on their own for ridiculous money (personally think they are crazy for selling as it is definitely a piece I would hold onto forever). I'm sure Ford has something planned as even Bronco owners got a couple of cool little gifts while waiting for their vehicles to be built. Any incite into what might be coming?

Yeah no order kit like for the GT. The GT ordering kit is a cool piece of memorabilia but it didn't have a ton of utility for the actual ordering process. And it cost a CRAZY amount of money to make. Like, close to $4,000. I think a lot of people who have sold them have done so because they sold the car. Dunno what they are doing for GTD as far as tchotchkes but I'm sure there's something.

Totally understand this perspective. I certainly don’t want to pay any more than necessary. This does feel like tricky territory for dealers, though, as they may get into some legal issues if they don’t charge a dealer fee on this car yet they do charge it on others. The fine line may lie in the fact that they aren’t floor planning this car. I’m not versed enough in dealer operations or car sales laws to know for sure.

Is this Consumers Reports? We're talking a few hundred $ vs hundreds of thousands for a vehicle. Remember, you pick the dealer, not the other way around.

I think you guys are forgetting one very important thing - it is not your car for 2 years. Ford holds the title until that period (which you have already signed the paperwork on) is up. The dealership you choose has to file all this paperwork.

As stated above , my $800 on was allowed in the state I bought the car I believe for « paper work! » only got it after I told Ford concierge who delivery dealer was And could not change at that point. Discuss it with your dealer for charges above MSRP!

My philosophy was to choose servicing dealer for the sale, since they made the investment. I know GT owner you used his local dealer with whom he had a good relationship with, when he needed service he had non problem using servicing dealer. My dealer did not even want to come for delivery at my home!

They actually hold the title till 2 yeas have passed? Or you mean the figuratively that they will sue you if you try to sell?
