I (periodically) since 2006 have put on a Ford GT event. I'm doing it on very short notice this year in Scottsdale, AZ just in case the world implodes. We should have something like 60 GTs there.

It now sounds likely that we will have a GTD there. I will know what the final decision is in the next couple of days. It will be a production unit, and I'll have it at our host hotel on display and then at Apex Motorsports Park.

In the event it actually comes together, I will let you know and if anyone would like to come check it out, I know people have been fairly starved on seeing the car up close and personal in this kind of setting. I'm hoping we get a final determination in the next day or two, and then I will let you know where it will be, and who will be there with it.

I would be interested in coming to see the car and event.

You must have a hell of a hook up at Ford. Does not seem like many GTD examples in the Ford corral are out and about (if the seriously limited number of colors for the GTD that have been pictures in the wild are any indication).

Be amazing to see a production model, especially if it is in a color I haven't seen virtually yet (seen the red carbon car, the grey launch car, light blue carbon car which may have just been a wrapped red carbon car, and the white car in the Leno pic).

AZ is a bit of a drive from CA, but we will see... thanks in advance for putting the time in to out it together.

Also, the light blue carbon series car is indeed painted.

Might we see/hear the GTD on the track at Apex?

This will be epic if we get to hear it on track!!

Many things in life are possible. Allowing the general public to get vehicle impressions before media is not one of them.

I get the whole not letting too much out of the bag until the press have their turn. I am sure there will be a big news embargo and a lot of important publications would be very upset if they got scooped on first impressions. But, there is still a lot that might be grey area that would still be "new info".

I would settle for just seeing a new spec on the car.. new color or option we haven't seen yet etc (even from afar as I havent even seen any GTD in the flesh yet). For example, I am interested to hear the difference between the titanium and standard exhaust (not sure if the design is any different between the two or just the material, but the company making the titanium system makes some of the best sounding aftermarket systems for Porsche and Audi... had one on my 2015 GT3).

That is good news, I read early on that it was optional, which was disappointing. So you can option dark or light exhaust tips (I had originally thought that the black exhaust tips were a different system from the bare titanium tip look exhaust based on the optional report)?

I think they just decided to include it. Their own press release refers to it as standard now. Ford GT started with it as optional but it became standard as well.
