Preferences Communication

After purchasing the GTD with the options I want, I think even your model FGT will be a stretch for the old wallet.

Basically looking at least 50k more than I thought it would be with options without going crazy on color. I encourage you guys to reach out to Concierge if interested in ECP (extended color pallet). I got more info on it, which I can't post unfortunately, but can say it is significantly more expensive than I expected (ranges from ouch to there goes a kidney). They gave me a good amount of info on the phone and now I have to figure out how much I really want my color of choice.
Is the cost for the extended color pallet north or south of the price Porsche charges for a PTS 911? I've talked to the concierge, but haven't sent them the colors I'm looking at yet to get a number.

I worked with Concierge today and now have access to the configurator. I hope to have my spec locked in within a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, I can’t really share much more than that, but after seeing my car mocked up on the configurator, my enthusiasm definitely went up!

Yes, I believe it generally will be two payments. First 50% upon finalization of order, Second 50% right around or at delivery.

You could pay more at order time if you wanted I liked nice round figures and paid a little more at order to have a nice round number at delivery.

Does the dealership reach out for payment or how did that process work? I’m assuming that they included all applicable taxes etc…?

You can do it either way. I bought car in MO but I live in IL. I told them I would take care of taxes and registration. There was a flat fee to the dealership of I think, $200. Don't forget you won't see a title for 2 years. I wanted custom plates, so I did it myself.

You decide which dealership you will use and the Concierge contacts them with the exact numbers. After you sign off on the configuration, options and paint, the Concierge tells the dealership what your amount is and sends them a copy of your exact build sheet with numbers. You go into dealership, write and sign check (or whatever money payment you arrange), get receipt and then wait for car to be built. For the GT it was 5-6 months until delivery after that.

When car is ready for delivery, Concierge contacts you and dealership on exact delivery time and date. You are expected to complete payment a few days before actual delivery. They delivered mine on a Sunday morning. The dealership opened up and furnished coffee and donuts. About 100 people there, my friends and family, dealership employees, technicians, etc.

If you don't have a good relationship with a Ford dealer, I highly recommend Pat Milliken Ford in Detroit. They delivered the most GTs in the USA by a wide margin. I personally did not because I have a great dealer locally.

Question, let’s say Ford is still making adjustments to the GTD until they lay their final number down at the track. Will they make those adjustments to the production version?

Like for example, they need a few more ponies to get down lower in time. Or they need a tweak in the aero. I saw the video with shmee at goodwood and the blue car had some extra downforce carbon on the rear wing that have not been shown on any other cars. Just curious if production version have been set in stone due to orders being placed or is there still time/room for them to make adjustments.

That depends. They did make adjustments to the GT during production, such as the increase in horsepower by 13 (647 to 660). Other smaller adaptations were also made on the production line as they became available.

Did they give owners of earlier cars the option to have their cars updated?

Not that I'm aware of. Certain of the updates, such as the larger intercoolers, were definitely not available for the earlier cars.
