If they get sub 6:50, that is crazy fast. Fingers crossed they get their target.

At one point in the video, a member of the Ford Performance team says, "There's no North American manufacturer that has done a sub-seven-second lap yet." Another team member says, "Our mission with GTD is pretty simple: Go beat the Europeans on their turf."

I don’t think just a 6:58 will do it for these guys. When you say “go beat the Europeans on their turf” barely breaking 7 min isn’t beating them. The GTD is meant to compete and that means getting it down to the gt3RS and AMG GT black series time frames. So 6:43-6:49 or better in my opinion.

I did hear from someone that may or may not has some connection with manufacturers in Nurburgring, something about 6:4...... Now, we have to wait for few more days to get the real number out! Honestly, if they have done anything bellow 6:49 I will be happy knowing that they can top that when they have the track to themselves with great weather!

May change my guess to 6:48 due to the video being 48 seconds long.

6:43 (i think it has a chance of beating the AMG GT Black)
i'm with you, mainly because larry holt thought that was the target and he should have access to the maths.

no doubt it will be heavy (3800-3900 lbs,?) but on balance it should be able to overcome and perform. too bad we won't know until spring, they missed a major marketing opportunity by missing the window this fall.

Are they going to take another stab at it?

Don't you think they have to beat the 992 GT3RS time to consider their "beating the Europeans at their own game" as mission success? I mean they mention the GT3RS all over the place as the target of the kind of car the GTD was designed to compete with, and merely beating the 991.2 time probably wouldn'tbe enough. That would mean below 6:44.84 (or 6:49 full course) shorter course (could be off, but think that is right).

Tough call.

Trick pony wearing a NASCAR hoodie shows up at the Ring.

There’s got to be more than one metric to measure success.

For now, ima go with 6:50-6.55 as a continuing work in progress.
